Family Nature Event at Nygren Wetlands

Each received a nature passport to be stamped at each of fourteen learning stations.

Nature enthusiasts, both young and old, learned all about the wonders of the wetlands and woodlands at the Family Nature Event at Nygren Wetlands, Saturday, June 24, 2023.

Experts at fourteen learning stations, offered information and demonstrations.  Families learned about bees and wasps, blue birds, ground water, Native American history, art in nature and many other topics.

Each family member received a passport that was stamped at each station.  After visiting each location, they were earned a Junior Nature badge.

Wagon rides were the mode of transportation for most families, while others walked through the prairie and wetland areas.

Nygren Wetlands is located at 3714 W. Rockton Road, Rockton, IL.  The land is owned and managed by the Natural Land Institute. The property is open to public.

It was a hot day at the Family Nature event at Nygren Wetlands on Saturday, June 24. Most visitors climbed aboard the wagon to visit the fourteen nature stations along the path.

Nygren Wetlands is located at  3714 W. Rockton Road,  Rockton, IL. The wildlife preserve is open to the public.
