Fall events bringing fun to Stateline
Enjoy pumpkins, antiques, history, and classic cars.
Some of the events planned this fall in Rockton and Roscoe:
St. Andrew Lutheran Church of Rockton invites the public to join in hours of fun at the 2022 Common Ground Pumpkin Festival.
The event is being held this coming Saturday, Sept. 24 with action starting at 11 a.m. and is running until 4 p.m.
Church members Ray and Lisa Redeski have planted 1,000 pumpkin seeds and are ready to share the results of those seeds in the form of fresh newly-ripened pumpkins.
Children who attend the Pumpkin Festival will have the opportunity to pick out a pumpkin which they can decorate as they choose. Extra fun is available in allowing guests to Touch the Truck, visit with the Rockton Police Department, see a K-9 demonstration, have your face painted, learn about comfort dogs, and to watch a helicopter come in. Try a creative hand at stuffing a scarecrow. Take a break to grab food from a food truck that will be on site. There is no charge to come out to have hours of fun!
The church will be open and everyone will have a chance to meet St. Andrew Church's new pastor, Rev. Donald Stein.

On Sunday, Sept. 25, Rockton Township Historical Society is hosting a special event honoring two of Rockton's long running non-profit organizations. Rockton Woman's Club is celebrating 125 years in the community. The Historical Society has been in existence for 70 years. Relive memories at the Green Street Carriage House Museum as both will be highlighted from 2-4 p.m. RTHS is doing a drawing each half an hour to a local restaurant. You must be present to win.
Roscoe Township Historical Society is having a special sale of vintage pieces on Saturday, Sept. 24 and Sunday, Sept. 25. Both days, antique lovers and bargain hunters can come out from 9 am. until 3 pm. The sale will only feature items that are over 50 years old. All the proceeds from the sale will go to help with restoration of the Cross Homestead.
Renovations to the Cross Home started two years ago and have been ongoing. Roscoe Township is building a community center at the homestead, but no public money is being spent on the Cross Home. Removal alone of paint from the 180 year old brick on the house's exterior is estimated to cost $36,000.
For more information on the sale or for any questions, please call 815-828-6107 or email info@roscoehistory.org.
