Live Music: Christopher James Oppold

From Freeport, Christopher James Oppold has had a 20 year musical career as a touring and session guitarist, a band leader, a Nashville songwriter, composer, producer, and recording artist. He studied jazz composition at Berklee College of Music. He has recorded two mostly instrumental projects, the EP Hot Sands (2020) and the album Lp1 (2021). His studio credits include work with Zella Day, OTown, Red Rosamond, Chandler Bay, Wild Blazing Sons, C.J. Howling, and many more. For four years, he toured the world as lead guitarist and tour manager with Zella Day, which took him to Coachella, Lollapalooza, Conan O’Brien Show, Vogue, and Red Rocks Amphitheater. He plays blues, country, rock, and soul music  on electric and acoustic guitars, 6 and 12-string, bass guitar, drums, percussion, keyboards. And he sings too.
