The Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD) is providing free COVID-19 vaccines, COVID-19 booster shots, and flu shots at sites throughout the community.
COVID-19 vaccines are available for everyone ages 5 and up. Those ages 5-17 will receive the Pfizer vaccine. Individuals ages 18 and older can pick Pfizer, Moderna, or Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) for their first vaccine or booster shot. Those who will be receiving a second COVID-19 vaccine or COVID-19 booster shot should bring their CDC COVID-19 Vaccination Record Card to the appointment.
COVID-19 booster shots are available to anyone 18 and older who received their second dose of Moderna at least 5 months ago. Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) booster shots are available to anyone who received the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine at least 2 months prior. COVID-19 boosters shots are available to those 12 and older who completed their Pfizer series at least 5 months prior. CDC is recommending that moderately or severely immunocompromised 5–11-year-olds receive an additional primary dose of vaccine 28 days after their second shot. Please consult with your pediatrician.
Free flu shots will be available and can be given at the same time as the COVID-19 vaccine or booster shot, while supplies last.
