Engineering & Manufacturing Immersion Night: at Hononegah but not just for Hononegah students
Both students and community members can explore nearby careers on Thursday, Oct. 19, 2023
Hononegah Community High School is hosting a regional open house designed to connect local engineering and manufacturing companies with students and community members. The event on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 6 – 7:30 p.m. builds on the school's monthly student “Lunch & Learns,” where all Hononegah students can learn about different career pathways, eat pizza, and meet with industry and training partners. A student-only version of the open house will be held during lunch periods on Oct. 19.
In the evening, HCHS invites all community members in the region, whatever their age, to attend the Engineering and Manufacturing Immersion Night, which is subtitled "Bringing Community and Learning Together." Visitors will be able to meet representatives of local employers, explore current career opportunities, and tour the engineering/manufacturing labs at Hononegah.
Principal Chad Dougherty says, "In a world that’s becoming more automated every day, Hononegah Community High School is grateful for the opportunity to connect our community with local business partners. Come learn how you or your student can become a highly-skilled manufacturer or engineer earning an amazing salary in a competitive and growing field without tens of thousands of dollars of college debt. Career opportunities in this industry are endless. Don't miss this chance for you and/or your student to learn how to capitalize on these opportunities."
Confirmed attendees include All World Machinery Supply, Inc., American Aluminum Extrusion, Bergstrom Inc., Campbells, Fairbanks, Morse Defense, Forest City Gear, Greenberg Casework, IMA Automation, Ingersoll Machine Tools, Inc., Ipsen, J&M Plating, Machine Tool Builders, Northern Illinois University, PBC Linear, Quantum Design Inc., Rock River Valley Tooling & Machining Association, Schafer Gear Works LLC., Stateline Robotics Team 4655, Taylor Company, The Workforce Connection, and the US Army.
The evening event will kick off with a welcome message and introductions at 6 pm. The community is invited to attend anytime between 6 and 7:30 p.m. No RSVP or signup is required, but door prizes will be provided by Northern Illinois University, Rock Valley College, and other organizations.
The open house will be held in the Metal Gym. Visitors can park in the main lot and enter at Door 39 for the evening event.
