More decisions to be made at Tuesday's municipal meetings
Changes in garbage fees, changes in taxes, changes in pay, and two more liquor licenses
The Villages of Roscoe and Rockton have several items on their respective Tuesday meeting agendas, besides a much-watched final vote between the Village of Roscoe and Waste Management of Illinois to provide residential waste hauling services within the Village of Roscoe at a painfully higher price. Both villages meet the first and third Tuesday of the month, so despite the season, December 20 is a regular board meeting day.
The Village of Roscoe will vote on amendments to the fund balance and reserve policy and will probably increase the compensation paid to the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. After approving 33 liquor licenses at their Dec. 6 meeting, they still missed one: a Class âFâ (Full Liquor - On Premises Consumption) liquor license for JIM SHELL LLC dba Jimez Sports Bar and Grill, whose well-beloved founder recently died. And since they are adding another liquor license, they need to amend §114 of the Village of Roscoe Code of Ordinances to increase the maximum number of liquor licenses available.
The best way to find out what your village government is doing.
In the Village of Rockton, trustees are expected to approve an agreement with the Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council (Union) to amend the Wage Step Schedule in the Collective
Bargaining Agreement. They will also vote on a liquor license for Pokie's. Since it's the time of year for each government body to approve the Levy and Assessment of Taxes for the 2023
fiscal year, that's what they will do. They will also amend the Code of Ordinances regarding sewer and water utility billing procedures and approve their annual $25,000 contribution to Stateline Mass Transit District (SMTD). One meeting highlight is always the popular police report, because, after all, you always need to know how many people got arrested recently.
