With sadness, we announce the following deaths for Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit in recent weeks:
May 11, 2025:
Dumitru "Danny" Stoica, 58, Roscoe
Born in Romania, he studied marketing and management at the University of Illinois at Chicago, eventually becoming a director of finance. He enjoyed skydiving, flying and hiking, and was known for his deep love of animals and children.

May 12, 2025:
Tim Hayes, 71, Rockton
Known by many as Purple, he spent many years building sea walls on Florida’s Gulf Coast. He loved music, wrote poetry, and created art in a range of mediums.

Joyce A. Erickson, 74, Roscoe
She enjoyed caring for her lawn and pets, walking barefoot in the grass, visiting with family and friends, cooking, traveling, solving word search puzzles, and shopping.

Cheryl L. Garbe, 78, South Beloit,
A proud homemaker and caregiver for her family, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, going on walks, spending time up north, watching figure skating, being with her grandchildren, watching true crime shows, and making waffles on Sundays.

Lisa J. Brooks, 62, South Beloit,
For 34 years, she worked in the shipping and receiving department at Sam’s Club in Rockford. After retiring, she loved to travel anywhere she could have a cold drink and her toes in the sand. Pearl Lake in South Beloit was her summer home.

May 13, 2025:
Duke Davenport, 85, Rockton
Retiring as Senior Vice President of Newell Companies, his life was marked by his generosity, sharp wit, and the way he could light up a room with his presence.
