With sadness, we announce the following deaths for Roscoe, South Beloit, and Rockton, in recent weeks:

Nov. 29, 2024:
Nancy Mertzenich, 59, Roscoe
With a MBA degree and two sons, she held positions in healthcare, corporate management, and restaurant services.

Nov. 28, 2024:
Kevin Schaefermeyer, 55, Rockton
A 1988 graduate of South Beloit High School, he enjoyed gambling, gardening, music, family, and friends.

Nov. 27, 2024:
Sigrid Peucker, 83, Rockton
Born in Rockton in 1941, when the town had little more than 1,000 residents, she graduated from Hononegah High School in 1959.

Nov. 25, 2024:
Jack Stewart, 86, Rockton
He embraced life's opportunities, racing mini-stock at Rockford Speedway, snowmobiling with friends, or playing an active role in Wimpy's Christmas Fund.

Nov. 23, 2024:
Richard McArdle, 90, Rockton
After two years of college football and two years in the United States Army, he later founded RBR Trucking.

Nov. 21, 2024:
Norma Brandenburg, 89, Roscoe
She was a wonderful cook and baker, talented seamstress, gardener, and a woman of faith with a sweet demeanor. Because of her husband's job relocations, she set up new households in Iowa, Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin.

Nov. 20, 2024:
Alice Robison, 86, Roscoe
She worked in college admissions for many years and spent some time with Century 21 Realty in Roscoe. She was kind, humble, moral, generous, and loving.

Janis Shaw, 65, South Beloit
She loved to improve recipes and was especially well known for her lasagna. The scarier the hole in the wall restaurant, the better the food, she always said. She was a proud lifetime Girl Scout.

Nov. 19, 2024:
Kelly Schuenemann, 56, Roscoe
A Chrysler employee in Belvidere, she loved NASCAR, angels, crystals, sports cards, her beloved cat, and politics. She spoke often about her dream of becoming a veterinarian.

Nov. 12, 2024:
Bonnie Kovanda, 56, Rockton
She found immense joy in yearly bake-offs at Christmas, bingo, bunco, family parties, concerts, yard work, travel, and her dog. She worked as a supervisor at Blue Cross Blue Shield.
