With sadness, we announce the following deaths for Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit in recent weeks:

Dec. 2, 2025:
Gregory A. Bergeron, 67, Roscoe
The middle child of thirteen, he had a long career as a machinist after graduating from Hononegah High School. He enjoyed admiring his lawn with a cold beer in hand, as if it were his own personal masterpiece.

Dec. 3, 2025:
Jacqueline Merritt-Fudge, 68, Roscoe
Born in Monroe, Louisiana, she served as an election judge and in her church's food service ministry. She attended Rockford Career College.

Dec. 9, 2025:
Dr. William T. Allaben, 86, Rockton
As a young man, he fished the Rock River near his home in Rockton. He built a distinguished career as a toxicologist in Arkansas with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. He was a private pilot for more than 50 years.

Dec. 10, 2025:
Ronald G. Larrison, 85, Rockton
He worked for many years at Porter Brothers Blacktop in Roscoe and retired from the Winnebago County Highway Department after almost 15 years. He enjoyed his membership in a club that shot targets in sequence using Old West-style single-action firearms.

Thomas J. O’Brien, 66, Rockton
The eighth of twelve children, he worked in the automotive and tire businesses. He enjoyed golfing, camping, horseback riding, and Disney World.

Dec. 11, 2025:
Carol J. Hendrickson, 71, Roscoe
Born in Kansas City, MO, she later moved to Wisconsin and worked at her mother’s restaurant, a children’s daycare, and her own home. She enjoyed numerous hobbies, including artwork and games with friends.

John Thomas Gibson, 78, Rockton
After ten years as a high school history teacher, he spent a career in freight sales. He loved spinning a tale from his bar stool at the Whiffletree in Roscoe, feeding the deer on his property in Rockton, and visiting the wild horses in Arizona.
