With sadness, we announce the following deaths for Rockton, Roscoe, and South Beloit in recent weeks:

August 19 2026

Pamela Kay Freedlund, 79, of Rockton, died August 19, 2026 while vacationing in Virginia. A longtime Rockton Elementary teacher and finalist for Illinois Teacher of the Year, she was devoted to education, community service, and her family.

August 21 2026

Dianna L. Kitchen, 70, of South Beloit, died August 21, 2026 after a brief illness. A Delavan‑Darien graduate, she worked for the South Beloit School District and Kohl’s and was active with Northern Winnebago Dems. She is survived by her husband, children, and grandchildren.

August 23 2026

Mary E. Smith, 98, of South Beloit, passed away August 23, 2026. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she was known for her kindness, faith, and love of family. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great‑grandchildren.

August 25 2026

Ted Simpson, 82, of Roscoe, passed away August 25, 2026. A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was known for his kindness, hard work, and love of family. He is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
