Celebrate Earth Day with the Roscoe Township Community Center's New Program: Peace in the Prairie at Cross Park
Wildflowers and native grasses fill the prairie at Cross Park in this July 2024 photo, taken before walking trails were completed. Trails have since been added.

Calling all nature enthusiasts, avid walkers, or anyone who simply wants to relax, slow down, and connect with nature in a new way!

We’re bringing a special, guided experience to the prairie at Cross Park. Join Michelle Marella, Certified Forest Therapy Guide and owner of Ends in E Acres, to celebrate Earth Day with the start of a new program: Peace in the Prairie!

Engage in an ancient practice called “forest bathing,” experience a traditional tea ceremony, reflect on the beauty of the prairie around you, and finish the day by creating your very own propagation jar made out of repurposed materials—provided by your guide. Michelle will use her forest therapy experience and passion for nature to walk you every step of the way!

Participants should be able to comfortably walk one mile on groomed gravel trails. Trails are accessible to those with mobility limitations. Michelle will provide chairs, snacks, and water during the walk.

The Cross Park prairie trails are open to the public to enjoy any time, but for more information or if you would like to participate in this special, guided experience, please purchase your tickets here or visit the Community Center calendar on our website under April 22nd.

Celebrate Earth Day in the prairie and check out our other “Peace in the Prairie” walks scheduled in May and June at Cross Park with Michelle Marella!
