Carly LaMay signs letter of intent to play basketball at Rock Valley College
Carly had played basketball for Coach Watkins's teams before.
Hononegah women’s basketball senior guard Carly LaMay will be attending Rock Valley College in the fall.
On Wednesday, Jan. 5, Carly signed a letter of intent to play women’s basketball for the RVC Golden Eagles.
Carly has participated in basketball all four years at HCHS and was a member of conference championship teams in both her freshman and junior years.
In addition to basketball, Carly was a member of the bass fishing team during her freshman and sophomore year and currently participates in the Hononegah Leadership Program.
Not only is Carly an outstanding basketball player, she is an outstanding student. She has been on the High Honor Roll all four years, and carries a 4.6 GPA.

Hononegah Coach Jason Brunke commended Carly on her skills and leadership ability. “She is an intense, competitive player. Carly is a team leader in rebounds, block stops and steals.”
I am looking forward to watching her.”
RVC Coach Darryl Watkins welcomed Carly, whom he expects to play point guard next year, and said he was happy to keep some of the area’s best players here.
Carly said she decided on Rock Valley because she had played basketball for Coach Watkins at travel and AAU. “He asked me to play in his program at Rock Valley. I loved him as a coach, so I decided to go there.”
The Golden Eagles women’s basketball team have a combined record of 285 wins and 91 losses over the past 11 seasons.
Rock Valley is a public community college in Rockford. It is part of the Illinois Community College System. This past year, over 7700 students attend on a part-time and full-l time basis.
