Captain's Galley in South Beloit to celebrate 47th anniversary on Saturday
The restaurant is offering "Buy One, Get One" for 47 cents on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 11am-3pm

According to 2014 study out of UC Berkley on restaurant survival rates, approximately 35 percent of restaurants survive to the 10 year mark. That study stops counting after year 15. Well, South Beloit's very own sub shop, the Captain's Galley, located at 305 Oak Ave (adjacent to the post office) is celebrating its 47th anniversary this Saturday.

In commemoration of that many years in business, Captain's Galley is offering a special deal for that day only from 11-3: Buy one half cold sub and get the next half for 47 cents. Also on the menu are 47 cent small soft drinks and 47 cent Mrs. Fisher's chips.
This author was curious to see when was the last time as sub sandwich ever cost 47 cents. Well, Subway never offered a 6 inch sub at that price point. The closest priced item to be found was the McDonald's Big Mac. Priced at 45 cents. In 1967.
Saturday is your chance to enjoy 1967 prices in 2025!
