Buckets n Blooms is giving away 60 flower arrangements. You just can’t keep them.
Christy Krupa’s third annual free floral arrangement giveaway begins at 8 a.m. Aug. 29
Buckets n Blooms owner Christy Krupa will give away 60 floral arrangements Saturday, Aug. 29. Anyone can stop in and choose one, but Christy asks each person to give the flowers to someone who needs or deserves them.
The giveaway comes with one catch: The flowers have to go to someone else.
That is the entire catch.
The giveaway begins at 8 a.m. inside DeeDee’s Main Street Coffee & Décor, 101 W. Main St., Suite B, in Rockton. Christy will prepare 60 arrangements in vases. Visitors can choose their own on a first-come, first-served basis.
“I do this giveaway every year, and I want to do it every year as long as I am in business,” Christy said. “I do this because I want to share my heart with the community.”
Christy also wants the people who pick up the arrangements to experience what it feels like to give something to someone else.
“It’s the act of giving, the act of sharing that really, it just feels so good,” she said. “It feels so good and it is selfless and it is loving and supportive. And I think this is something that everybody needs.”
Saturday’s event will be Christy’s third annual free flower giveaway.
She prepared 50 arrangements for the first one in August 2024. The arrangements carried retail values of $30 to $50, and some included flowers from her garden. She increased the number to 60 in 2025 and will prepare 60 again this year.

Long before she opened a storefront, Christy shared flowers from the porch of her Rockton home.
She started growing, cutting, and arranging flowers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her porch pickup service allowed neighbors to collect flowers without contact and take them home or gift them to someone else.
Christy opened Buckets n Blooms on South Blackhawk Boulevard in September 2023. She sold floral arrangements and houseplants and used the storefront to hold classes.

She moved the business into the back of DeeDee’s in spring 2025 after she and former owner DeeDee Weiser worked together on holiday events and other collaborations.

The business changed again in January when Christy and her husband, Jake, bought DeeDee’s. They kept the name and familiar coffee-shop atmosphere, and Christy still runs Buckets n Blooms from the same building.

The building now has coffee, espresso, breakfast, lunch, flowers, plants, workshops, and, once a year, a perfectly legitimate opportunity to walk out with a floral arrangement without paying for it.
Just don’t take it home for yourself.

Participants do not need to enter online, and no one associated with the event will request credit card information through Facebook. Christy cautioned people against responding to accounts that ask for financial information in connection with the giveaway.
“I care about my work, I care about what I do, I care about the impact that it has,” Christy said. “This is my way of giving back and showing them I really truly care.”
The giveaway begins at 8 a.m. Saturday and continues while supplies last. Those hoping to choose from all 60 should probably arrive on time.
Free flowers tend not to linger.
