Bomb report not credible at Roscoe Middle School
Police did a thorough search and found nothing suspicious.
After a Roscoe Middle School student reported a bomb on a school bus Friday afternoon, Roscoe Police and Winnebago County Sheriff’s deputies did a thorough search and found nothing suspicious in or around the bus. After the investigation, Roscoe Police and Kinnikinnick School District administration announced they "deemed the information received was not credible, and wish to reassure the community that there is no present danger to the public."
The incident began about 3:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13, 2024, as buses were preparing to leave Roscoe Middle School, 6121 Elevator Rd. The school administration was notified that a student reported a bomb on the bus to the bus driver.
According to a joint news release:
The school administration approached and boarded the bus, assessed the situation and determined it was necessary to contact local authority. Following established emergency procedures school officials evacuated all students. At approximately 3:48 pm, the Roscoe Police were notified and at 3:50 pm were dispatched to the scene.
Though they found no bomb, Roscoe Police say the school is still investigating the incident. "If you have any further information regarding this incident, please contact the Roscoe Police Department and the Roscoe Middle School administration." They are grateful to the public for their continued support and cooperation.
