Illinois American Water advised its South Beloit customers on the evening of October 25th to boil their drinking water due to low amounts of chlorine.

A rolling boil for drinking or cooking water specifically should be maintained for 5 minutes. Illinois American Water notified their customers that the boil order should be lifted by 12:00am on Tuesday, October 27th. IAW maintained that water for bathing, washing, and other common uses was fine.

On the fence of whether you could use tap water to brush your teeth? The CDC advises that those under a boil order use either bottled water or water that's been boiled for one minute then cooled.

Illinois American Water also advised landlords of rental properties to inform their tenants of the boil order.
