On Wednesday, children and young people were playing ball at Kelley Myers Park as usual, but Sunday afternoon after being summoned to the park, Village of Roscoe police discovered the body of Kevin Garrett Bell, age 35, of Roscoe.  The cause of death is still being investigated, but it appears accidental and the police department states, "There does not appear to be any threat to public safety." Bell was a sports enthusiast who worked for many years at Schnuck's and Hononegah High School.

Kelley Myers Park is on Hononegah Road, opposite Hononegah Forest Preserve. It includes playground equipment, baseball and soccer fields, and a bike path. The Dorr Road Bike Path, which ends near the Hononegah Recreation Path, runs through the park, as does a stream known as Dry Creek, which flows under the road into the forest preserve and finally into the Rock River.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 12, 2021 in Riverside Community Church in Machesney Park. The family will receive visitors at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday. June 11.
