Archaeology Sunday at Macktown Living History

2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Free admission.

• Find out what happens when archaeologists go on a dig!
• Learn about the historic and prehistoric excavations that have been done right here at Macktown!
• Discover how and why archaeologists know where to dig, how to set up excavation units, dig in standard levels and collect artifacts.
• Participate in the washing, sorting and identification of the artifacts collected!

This Second Sunday program will be the culmination of a three-day archaeological dig attempting to link up two small prehistoric campsites in the vicinity of the Visitor’s Center.
The public is welcome during the hours of 2- 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11.
People of all ages are invited to participate.
Please come to the Visitor’s Center to register. Archaeologist Dr. Rochelle Lurie will give a brief outline of the archaeology that has taken place at Macktown.
The working site is a short walk from the Visitor’s Center. The ground is mowed but bumpy - okay for walking, not the greatest for wheel chair. If you have someone in a wheel chair we will do our best to get you to the site.
