RUMC Garden Club hosting annual Plant & Tool Sale
At Saturday's sale, hundreds of perennials, annuals, succulents, and veggie plants grown by the Garden Club themselves.

This year’s Plant and Tools sale will be Saturday, May 17, 2025, 9 - 11:30 a.m. in the Roscoe United Methodist Church parking lot at 10816 Main St, Roscoe, IL 61073.
When driving down Main Street in Roscoe, it’s hard to miss seeing a large vegetable garden at the north end of the Roscoe United Methodist Church. It’s the work of the Roscoe United Methodist Church Garden Club. The group of community volunteers gather on Thursday mornings throughout the growing season to plant and tend vegetables for those who may be less fortunate in our Stateline area. The bulk of the ripened produce gets dropped off at the Old Stone Food Pantry in Rockton. People from across Roscoe, Rockton, South Beloit & Shirland come to pick up food for the week.
Many local veterans, senior citizens, and single parents live on small, fixed incomes and rely on the pantry all year to sustain them. Vegetables are harvested in late June and early July. When the produce is over-plentiful, fresh produce in a large cart can be found in the church narthex on Sunday mornings.
Each year, the plant & tool sale generates funds to supply additional food items that they might not receive otherwise. Fresh meats like bacon & small roasts, butter, eggs, as well as fresh fruits and vegetables that are not grown in the church garden, are purchased and delivered to the pantry in the early fall by RUMC volunteers.
At this year’s Plant and Tools sale on Saturday, May 17, shoppers will find hundreds of perennials, annuals, succulents, and veggie plants in the church parking lot, grown by the garden club themselves. They will also be selling gently used handheld & power tools, antiques and vintage décor, flower pots, yard furniture, garden equipment. It will be 9 - 11:30 a.m. in the church parking lot at 10816 Main St, Roscoe, IL 61073.
Ninety nine percent of the money generated will be used to purchase additional food.
