9th Annual Jaimie Cox Memorial 5K Aims for 100 More Runners as Community Support Surges
With crisp fall air settling in and race day approaching, organizers of the 9th Annual Jaimie Cox Memorial 5K are making a final push to reach their goal of 100 additional participants before runners take the starting line on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The annual event, held lakeside with the Stateline skyline rising in the background, honors fallen Rockford Police Officer Jaimie Cox, whose legacy of service, courage, and community commitment continues to inspire thousands across northern Illinois. The race has grown into Roscoe’s largest 5K, drawing families, first responders, competitive runners, and supporters of the Jaimie Cox Foundation.

The foundation’s mentioned that participants receive:
- Custom race shirt
- Custom bib
- Custom finisher’s medal
The foundation notes that every registration directly supports its mission of honoring Officer Cox through community programs, scholarships, and outreach efforts that reflect his dedication to public service.

Race organizers say the push for 100 more runners is achievable, especially with strong early engagement on social media and continued support from Stateline residents.
The 5K remains one of our region’s most meaningful fall traditions, offering participants a chance to run, walk, or cheer in honor of a local hero while supporting programs that carry his legacy forward.

Registration remains open as race day approaches, and organizers encourage early sign‑ups to help meet the participation goal and ensure the strongest turnout yet for the memorial event.
