East is coached by Gary Griffin and has senior Mahki Matthews on the defensive side of the ball that will try to slow down the Indians. Undefeated Hononegah is coached by Bryan Zimmerman. Coach Zimmerman uses senior punter Zach Luker as a weapon when his offense isn't clicking. On defense, Jackson Washington was a major reason for causing the Freeport Pretzels to throw three interceptions and go 3 of 9 on 3rd down.

With this being the 100th year celebration for Hononegah many, many alumni are expected to return to celebrate one of the more notable alumni, Mike Sorce, better known by his radio name of Don Geronimo. Mike was  a 1976 graduate of Hononegah.

Game time is moved back until 7:45 p.m. as pre-game will be a bit longer because of Homecoming and the 100th year celebration.

The 2022 Hononegah Indians remained undefeated last week as they were able to shake off an early slow start against Freeport to win 42-22. In the game, the young defense was able to turn turnovers into points and the offense began to click as the game worn on.

This is a tough, gritty, hard-nosed Rockford East E-Rabs, come to town for the homecoming game. Speak to any high school coach in the country and the week they get less sleep is homecoming week - so many things on the outside pulling at the attention of the team. This year it's even more with the 100th year celebration going on for Hononegah.

The E-Rabs come in off a 22-14 win over Rockford Auburn, which saw Auburn have short fields caused by bad punts, stalled drives and a great all-around E-Rab defense. Coach Griffin is a stalwart at East and he believes in old school toughness and a belief that you win with defense and a running game.
