Rockton firefighters were dispatched at 1:48 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2022, along with Winnebago County Sheriff's Office and South Beloit Police, and quickly put out a burning pickup truck that was "extremely close to a camper" in the 200 block of Elmo Street in South Beloit, between Center Street and Rood Avenue, two blocks south of the state line. No injuries were reported but the pickup truck was a total loss. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Rockton Fire dealt with another pickup truck fire in July.
